USA: Tennessee Secretary of State Now Accepts Annual Report Submissions Online Through Tennessee.gov
Until now, annual report filings were hand delivered or mailed to the Tennessee Secretary of State’s office for processing. This time-consuming process has been streamlined by the launch of the new Online Annual Report Submissions service. TN.GOV and Secretary of State Riley C. Darnell are pleased to announce that corporations and limited liability companies can now submit annual reports and pay applicable fees online through the state’s official Web site at www.Tennessee.gov.
The ease of use and accessibility of the new online service has led to immediate adoption. In just the second full month of operation, 26 percent of all filers used the system to complete their submission. Since the online application was deployed, not a single online annual report has been returned, compared to the 15-20 percent rejection rate for annual reports submitted by mail.
“We are pleased to have streamlined the process and to now offer a more convenient option to the public for filing their annual reports” said Secretary of State Darnell.
Most of the information on record for a company is pre-populated in the online form, which minimizes the time required to complete an annual report submission. Upon completion, an email confirmation is sent to the user with a summary of the submission and a confirmation number for future reference.
The online service is available for current as well as delinquent annual report submissions up to four-and-a-half months after the due date. A current submission starts on the first day of the month following the fiscal year ending month of record and ends four months later. For example, a company with a fiscal year ending month of December can submit its annual report online from January 1st to April 1st. It can submit a delinquent annual report online from April 2nd through August 15th.
Online Annual Report submission is the latest online application that TN.GOV has launched in conjunction with the Secretary of State’s office. One-Stop Business Resource (OSBR), www.tennesseeanytime.org/osbr, is another joint initiative between the TN.GOV team and the Secretary of State’s office. This online application enables individuals and organizations to register new businesses with several different government agencies simultaneously through one Web site. Participating agencies include the Secretary of State, Department of Revenue, Department of Labor and Workforce Development, and the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation.
