All 783 village panchayats of the district are online now

Chief Minister Narendra Modi declared Banaskantha as an e-gram district at a function held at Palanpur on the eve of the 62nd Independence Day celebrations. After Amreli, Banaskantha has become the second e-gram-vishwa-gram district in Gujarat, with all its 783 village panchayats receiving broadband connectivity.

Also, 392 Community Information Centres (CIC) providing Internet facility to villagers are being made operational here. Amreli was declared an e-gram on May 1 this year.

Modi addressed a state-level conference of women sarpanches of 4,571 panchayats at Palanpur and announced that the government would impart free computer training to them. He talked to villagers and sarpanches of four e-grams through videoconference on the occasion.

Modi told the gathering that the government is committed to provide broadband connectivity to all the 13,693 village panchayats across the state. This would enable the rural folk to communicate with anyone across the globe. Besides, it will also help bring in qualitative changes in socio-economic, education and health sectors in the rural areas.
