Transforming Government since 2001
Towards ushering in e-administration in Ariyalur district under the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP), Collector T. Abraham distributed computers on Tuesday to firka-level revenue inspectors and to village administrative officers.

With the administration poised for technological transition as e-district, the task of imparting computer training to revenue department staff would be carried out shortly for optimising productivity, Mr. Abraham said.

The State Government has envisaged e-District as automation of workflow and internal processes of district administration for seamless integration of various departments including Revenue, Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare, BC & MBC Welfare, District Social Welfare, etc. for providing services to the citizens. e-District, a State Mission Mode project under the NeGP, aims to target high volume services and undertake backend computerisation to electronically enable the delivery of these services through common service centres (CSC) conceived to provide government to citizen (G2C) services, business to business (B2B) services and business to citizen (B2C) services.

At the CSCs being established in villages through the Tamil Nadu e-Governance Agency (TNeGA), the public can download more than 200 different forms pertaining to road transport, registration and civil supplies departments, pension, encumbrance certificates and school textbooks.

Ariyalur, Krishnagiri, Tiruvarur, Perambalur and Coimbatore were chosen in the pilot stage for execution of the Bharat Nirman project, envisaged to ensure nationwide automation of citizen services.

The NeGP consists of 27 Mission Mode Projects and eight programme support components.
