The project is part of the central government’s National e-Governance Programme (NeGP) and is expected to provide an impetus for long-term growth of e-governance in India.
The e-District programme will also be simultaneously launched in Palakkad district, where state tourism minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan will preside over the function.
In the e-District project, administrative processes have been transformed into electronic work flow using information and communication technology. The e-District application will enhance transparency, accountability and speed in the delivery of services.
The Akshaya e-centres will act as delivery points or Customer Service Centres (CSCs) and all applications will be available online from these centres.
“People can utilise this programme through Akshaya, Friends and e-District websites. They can apply for all kinds of certificates online through the Common Service Centres. Authorities will check the online applications and sanction certificates for the eligible ones through CDCs,” said Ajay Kumar, Principal Secretary for IT.
