Visitors to Kerala State in India will find their stay very convenient with information provided at their fingertips as a result of a new set of mobile based services and IT-enabled kits developed by Kerala State.

The projects include mobile website, WAP guide, Apps for Android & iOS and Bluetooth Kiosks.

“Kerala is the first State in the country to adopt such mobile based services for the benefit of the tourism industry. The new set of products will provide all necessary information to the tourists at their finger tips,” said Tourism Minister Shri A P Anil Kumar.

According to him, this technology will boost tourism industry and open new marketing avenue apart from giving valuable information. It will also help the travellers to explore the destinations in Kerala without using external guides.

The same facilities on the State Tourism Website will be provided on the WAP site through the visitors’ smart phones, which can be used as the tourist guides.

The mobile apps for iOS and Android devices offer useful location-based searching tools such as “What’s near me” or “Around me”. Users of smart devices can locate things around them. Likewise, “Place of Interest” tool provide tourists the interesting travel attraction. Tour Planner and share option area available for users to plane and share pictures and messages with social media friends.

Kerala Tourism also launched Bluetooth Kiosks to provide comprehensive travel information to new arrival travellers. The kiosks can be found at the international airports in Kerala.
