With an aim to take the message of e-governance to people in remotest parts of the State, Parliamentary Secretary in-charge of IT Victor Keishing today flagged off the State Common Service Centre (CSC) Outreach Programme in Manipur from the historic Kangla fort here today.

Common Service Centres (CSCs) also known as "Pragya Kendras" is a critical part of the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP), which is a major initiative of the Government of India for ushering in e-Governance for improving the quality of basic governance, on a massive scale in areas of concern to the common man.

Around 1,00,000 CSCs across the country are providing various Government services to people like Certificates (Birth, Death, Domicile, Caste, Income etc) MNREGA payments, computer courses, financial services like bank account opening, withdrawal/deposit, loan document, online railways and airline ticket booking, DTH recharge, and even private services.

The exhibition van flagged off today intends to support CSCs at the grassroots and spread awareness about e-governance in villages.

It will eventually reach nearly 3000 CSCs across the country.

In Phase-I, the campaign will be rolled out in the 11 states of Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Goa, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhatisgarh covering 1343 CSCs.

In Manipur, 399 CSCs have been set up, out of which 99 CSCs from Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Chhandel, Churachandpur, Senapati, Tamenglong and Ukhrul districts will be covered in this Rural Outreach Campaign.

A Mobile Exhibition Van with computers, laptop, big LCD screen, e-Governance awareness material, etc. and a team of promoters will go to each of selected CSC and give hands on experience about various public services available through these centers.

Other interesting elements of the exhibition nukkad nattak, audio visual experience and would be educating people about convenience and transparency of services available through the CSCs.
