The cabinet secretariat has released clear instructions for ministries to reduce the paper work by incorporating e-Office, according to an official source.
The e-Office software has been developed by National Informatics Center – NIC.
In the beginning, the officials will be trained for operating eFile to ensure transparent and effective inter and intra government processes in India.
eFile is an integral part of the e-Governance software, which is basically a file tracking system developed to help governmental departments work without paper by scanning, registering and routing the inward correspondence attachment, draft for approvals and movements of file, receipts, etc.
“Once the officials will be trained and this system gets in place, we’ll ask states for sending proposals and other such documents with the help of file-tracking channels,” said Indian rural development ministry.
According to an NIC official, it will require a month for training 400 staff of the rural development ministry. The training for eFile management will combine features of present manual handing of files through a more efficacious electronic system.
