The infrastructure of the 10 smart cities in Uttar Pradesh has received over INR 500,00 million in funding since 2019, with Agra and Varanasi leading the way in achieving mission goals. Officials have announced a review of the progress made by the 10 cities as they strive to meet the Union government's June 2023 deadline for the completion of ongoing smart city works. The urban development department has requested a detailed list of works carried out by executive officers supervising mission objectives in Lucknow, Agra, Bareli, Varanasi, Moradabad, Prayagraj, Saharanpur, Aligarh, Kanpur, and Jhansi.

While Agra and Varanasi have completed more than 85 per cent of the goals, the remaining smart cities need to accelerate ongoing projects. A senior officer from the department said that Agra and Varanasi have secured the highest amount of funds because of their ability to meet deadlines and fulfil objectives.
