
The state emerged as a standout performer at the ETGovernment DigiTech Annual Awards 2025, where it won five awards across various categories in digital governance. The awards, presented during the DigiTech Conclave in New Delhi on Tuesday, supported by the Union ministry of electronics & information technology, highlighted trailblazers who have played important roles in shaping the digital landscape in public services.
Among awards clinched by UP, Prayagraj Smart City Ltd and UP Police won for the use of cutting-edge AI-based surveillance and crowd management system during the 2025 Maha Kumbh mela. Excellence in smart mobility
The UP state road transport corporation (UPSRTC) won an award for comprehensive safety through VLTDs and panic buttons, integrated with UP-112, under the ‘Excellence in Smart Mobility and Transportation Technologies' category. UPSRTC managing director, Masoom Ali Sarwar received the award.
In the domain of digital health, Hamirpur district was awarded for ‘Project Jagriti: TB Mukt Hamirpur' in the ‘Innovative Digital Health Services and Public Health Data Analytics' category. The award was received by Hamirpur district magistrate, Ghanshyam Meena.
UP development systems corporation Ltd was recognised for the Swami Vivekanand Yuva Sashaktikaran Yojna under the category of ‘Innovative Use of Digital Technology in Enhancing Public Service Delivery'. Neha Jain, special secretary, IT & electronics, UP, and managing director of UPDESCO, received the award on behalf of the IT & electronics department.
"These awards highlight UP's commitment to leveraging digital innovation to improve public services, safety, healthcare, transportation and inclusion. The event also recognised 30 winners from across India, with other states like Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, Telangana, Odisha, Kerala, Tripura, West Bengal and Haryana receiving accolades in various categories," said a govt spokesperson.
Winners for the awards were selected by a five-member jury, which included former Urban development secretary Shankar Aggarwal, former electronics & IT secretary Alkesh Kumar Sharma, former civil aviation secretary Rajiv Bansal, former DRDO director general Hari Babu Srivastava and former Mahindra & Mahindra Group public affairs president Manoj Chugh, who handpicked the winners for DigiTech Annual Awards 2025. Ernst & Young India served as the knowledge partner for the event.
