Patra announced that Dhenkanal is set to become a smart city, highlighting plans for modern infrastructure, urban development, and improved public services.
A decision on the location of the proposed smart park in Dhenkanal is expected soon, following indications that the site may shift from Mahisapat Pallishree Mela Ground. Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra said that the government remains fully committed to the project, emphasising that funding will not be a constraint.
Following a review meeting in Dhenkanal Municipality, Patra said the State government will declare Dhenkanal a smart city soon. He also said that the foundation stone for a new Medical College in Dhenkanal will be laid shortly.
Patra reviewed the progress of key State and Central welfare and development initiatives. State schemes assessed included the Mukhya Mantri Shahari Vikas Yojana (MSBY), the Subhadra Yojana, multi- purpose complex construction and water body renovation. Central projects evaluated included the National Policy on Urban Street Vendors, PMAY and PM SVANidhi.
The State government released Rs 7.16 crore of the requested Rs 10 crore for MSBY projects, while also funding water body rejuvenation under the Amrut Mitra scheme. Officials also discussed liquid and solid waste management, the waste-to-wealth centre and the Town Hall project.
Patra asked the Municipal administration to submit a proposal for construction of a Municipal Guest House and staff quarters, assuring that he will take the initiative to get it approved.
