Service will help to create a business-friendly environment

Bahrain Post, in cooperation with the eGovernment Authority (eGA) in Bahrain, recently launched the Mailbox Renewal eService for individuals and businesses through the eGovernment National Portal (www.bahrain.bh).

This follows the launch of the successful eService enabling the tracking of postal packages earlier this year, the first of many offerings Bahrain Post has pledged to provide through the eGovernment National Portal. The mailbox renewal eService simplifies the process and makes it much more convenient for those who wish to renew their mailboxes, while at the same time easing the workload on Bahrain Post staff and enabling further efficiencies at post offices throughout the Kingdom.

Shaikh Bader bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Assistant Under-Secretary of Bahrain Post, commented, “our offices manually process approximately 29,000 renewal transactions each year, which places a burden on our staff and affects our service delivery and overall responsiveness. However, with this new eService, the annual mailbox rental fee of BD15 can be renewed online with complete ease.”

Such eServices will make the Kingdom’s economy even more competitive and business friendly, Shaikh Bader pointed out and this positively contributes to the nation’s growth and development, in accordance with the goals and objectives of the Bahrain Vision 2030.

The eGA had recently undertaken a project to increase the capacity of the National Portal tenfold. As this has now been completed, the increased capacity of the portal not only improves browsing speed for visitors, but is also sufficient to accommodate the increasing demand for the 76 eServices now operational, and is capable of handling the 200 eServices planned to go live by the end of 2010.
