Within the national strategic objectives of the Kingdom of Bahrain for the eGovernment Authority which aims at boosting the utilization of the government services electronically; and an imitative for the first time orchestrated with the Electricity and Water Authority to encourage its subscribers to electronically pay their bills through the eGovernment portal 'Bahrain.bh' or through the eGovernment Services Center, the eGovernment Authority offers those complying with such scheme to get back 50% of their monthly bills refunded besides being qualified for a total refund of annual bills' value.

The subscribers, both individuals, private and public sector entities alike, can pay their bills electronically and participate in monthly incentive scheme of refunding 50% of bill value to 25 winners who together with other subscribers shall be liable to participate in end of year pot of 100% refund of total annual bills. This incentive campaign shall continue as of current month of April'2010 till April'2011.

Mr. Mohamed Ziad Asfour - Marketing and Awareness Assistant Director at the eGovernment Authority (EGA), said: "The online payment of electricity and water bills is the most commonly used service through the portal. Since the launch of the service in June 2007, almost 155 thousand transactions have taken place at an approximate value of BD11m. Our initiative is the first in the region and aim at encouraging and supporting the subscribers to achieve maximum benefit of government services offered at the portal."

He added that such a step complies with the objective of establishing the electronic transformation culture in the Kingdom of Bahrain so as to accomplish flexibility and save all citizens time and effort.

online bill payment at the www.bahrain.bh portal can be done by using the credit card or the ATM card 'Benefit'. The user should go to the 'Bill Payment' tab from the menu and enter simple data like bill account no., ID no. or CR, besides information of credit card or ATM card as required. the user may also request a hard copy of payment receipt for future verification.

Settlement of bills can be electronically processed at the eGovernment Services Center available at (Sanad post office, Budaiya post office, Al Muharraq Social Center, Isa Town social center, and Capital Mall) where eGovernment Authority staff shall assist the subscribers.

The Electricity and Water Authority offers six eservices through the Bahrain.bh portal: Electricity and Water Bill payment, Submit Meter Reading, General Complaints of High Consumption, Electricity and Water Outage Complaints, Disconnection Services, Customer Care Service.
