Transforming Government since 2001
Renewal facility is available round-the-clock

Motorists in Dubai will now be able to renew their vehicle registration and driving licences over the phone with effect from November 1, said a senior official at the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

"Instead of driving down to RTA offices and waiting in queues, customers can simply call the RTA's call centre to renew their vehicles' registration," Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the RTA said yesterday.

The new telephone service will also help motorists pay their traffic fines.

The service, which is the first of its kind in the Middle East, will be available to customers from November 1.

"The RTA is keen on diversifying the channels to deliver its various services to customers including the use of communication technologies and e-Services in keeping with the vision and drive of the Dubai e-Government," said Al Tayer.

It is now possible for motorists to process the renewal of vehicle registration and driving licences, and pay traffic fines using four different channels. They can do it by visiting the RTA website (www.rta.ae), RTA customer service centres, RTA's approved insurance companies, and now through phone calls to RTA's customer service call centre.

The service, he said, will be offered round-the-clock as the RTA has already made arrangements to ensure smooth transactions.

Explaining the new service, Ahmad Hashim Behroozian, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Licensing Agency, told Gulf News that customers could call the RTA call centre and select the required service.

The call will be transferred to a customer service agent who will take all the details related to the renewal of vehicle registration or the driving licence.

The customer needs to pay by credit card. It takes about 10 minutes to process the transaction and a copy of the vehicle registration card or driving licence will be e-mailed to the customer pending the delivery of the original registration or driving licence card by express mail.
