So far, 20 entities in the UAE have sent their applications in the five categories of the Award which are: best eService, best eContent, best federal portal, best portal in development sector, and best G2G project. More entities are expected to send in their applications in the next few days.
Seven entities have applied for the best eService category. They are: Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Social Affairs, Ministry of Public Works, Dubai Courts, the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs-Dubai and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Eight entities have applied for the best eContent category. They are: the Securities and Commodities Authority, Dubai Chamber, the Ministry of Economy, Dubai eGovernment, the Ministry of Public Works, Dubai Health Authority, Western Region Municipality - Abu Dhabi and the Emirates Identity Authority.
Five entities have sent their nominations for the best G2G project. They are: Dubai Statistics Centre, the Securities and Commodities Authority, the Ministry of Labour, Dubai eGovernment and the Road and Transport Authority - Dubai. Only the Securities and Commodities Authority has applied for the best portal in development sector. www.government.ae, the official portal of the UAE will represent the country in the best federal portal category.
Commenting on the responses by federal and local entities to represent the United Arab Emirates in the Award, H.E. Salem Khamis Al Shair Al Suwaidi, Director General, Emirates eGovernment said, "I am glad that the majority of government entities in the UAE are eager to take part and represent our beloved country in the GCC eGovernment Award. I wish them all best."
"Such awards are ideal opportunities to positively compete for excellence. Competitions mean the determination to excel which we need in the eTransformation process in the GCC countries. It is also a chance to interact and exchange thoughts with experts from other GCC countries on the subject of eGovernment," Al Suwaidi added.
A jury will evaluate all applications and announce the projects eligible to represent the UAE in the second eGovernment Award in Kuwait.
Emirates eGovernment had dedicated a website for receiving nominations from government entities in the UAE to participate in the Award. The website gcceaward.gia.gov.ae provides all the information needed to take part in the Award.
Emirates eGovernment works in line with the strategy of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, and is responsible for formulating and overseeing the implementation of the eGovernment strategy on the federal level, ensuring robust shared infrastructure for federal government entities, and enhanced government services.
