The Vehicle and Driver Licensing Department at Abu Dhabi Police has announced that the ID card is a must for using its new e-service, which enables users to complete their vehicles registration renewal by themselves.

The Department offers this new service via devices which enable the user to pay outstanding fines and fees, type the registration cards and receive it from the device itself without having to wait for their turn at the customer service counter.

In a statement to Al Ittihad Arabic newspaper, Colonel Suhail Al Khaili, Head of the Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department, has said that the Department had provided six self-service machines, which offer renewal of vehicle registration, issuing replacement for lost or damaged registration cards and traffic fine enquiry and payment using credit cards.

He added that the devices, which will be soon available at shopping centres in Abu Dhabi, provide immediate renewal and car registration and printing of the registration cards.

Colonel Al Khaili explained that to avail of the service, the user has to insert his/her ID card in the device which will read the data stored on the card’s chip. A service screen will come up where the user can complete the transaction.
