The new device has been named 'Mueen Al Zaki' or Smart Assistant'.

The Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) Police, as part of the nationwide Innovation Week, has launched its first virtual police assistance to provide a variety of most needed services for the public.

Lt-Col Mohammed Al Ahmad, director of the electronic services and communications department with the RAK Police, said the new invention has been derived from a popular animation character.

"The virtual police assistant, the first of its kind in the emirate, will be developed into a robot in the near future to be smarter, more interactive and helpful, provide more and better services to the public."

The new device has been named 'Mueen Al Zaki' or Smart Assistant', he added. "The word 'Mueen' means all set to provide assistance to customers whereas the word 'Al Zaki' means smart in line with the Innovation Week and strategic directives of the e-government."

The gadget is a computer that takes the virtual shape of a staff police officer with a cap on head with the logo of the department, he explained. "The interactive device enlightens the public about all the electronic services being provided by the RAK Police."

Major-General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of the RAK Police, meanwhile, said they are adopting 48 exceptional initiatives submitted by RAK police staffers.

"These are flexible and visual solutions to meet the expectations of RAK Police customers, staffers, and strategic partners."

The RAK Police have converted its suggestions and complaints department into an innovation centre, he added. "All the exceptional ideas, suggestions, and remarks will be developed in this innovation lab."

All the innovative solutions displayed are meant to develop security awareness of all members of the society to be an effective part of the security system here, he underlined. "Such a creative trend will boost safety, security and stability of the country in general and emirate in particular."
