New Zealand's State Services Commission is expanding headcount at its E-Government Unit in order to develop new web authentication applications for citizens. The State Services Commission's E-Government Unit is recruiting six staff to develop new identity authentication standards.

The E-Government Unit expects to trial a system in 2005 which could authenticate the identity of people accessing government services over the internet.
