Turkmenistan and China laid the foundations for potential future collaboration in areas including AI and smart cities after a meeting between politicians to advance an existing strategic partnership.
The prospects to deepen the nations’ collaboration was discussed by Turkmenistan’s deputy minister of Foreign Affairs Akhmet Gurbanov and Xu Qingshan, deputy secretary-general of the Hangzhou People’s Government.
Along with the potential collaboration on AI and smart cities, the nations could explore joint work on top-tier technologies and urban infrastructure.
Talks included discussion on deepening scientific and educational ties, with the Turkmenistan delegation proposing to establish cooperation with the Hangzhou Dianzi University and other leading Chinese establishments.
Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated the nations hope to maintain regular, high-level talks, explaining they each believe this to be key to “the comprehensive strengthening of the interstate partnership”.
In addition to technology development, the nations explored potential ways to deepen “cultural and humanitarian cooperation”.
Turkmenistan and China previously highlighted ties spanning centuries and the heads of each met earlier this month as part of a delegation to the latter nation during which they shored up an existing gas field development deal.
