The 2nd Government e-Services exhibition organized by the ITA was launched on the 25th MAY 2009 by H.E. Eng. Ali bin Masoud bin Ali Al Sunaidy, Minister of Sports Affairs.

This exhibition presents 18 government organizations under one single roof to demonstrate their e-maturity in terms of eServices, websites, internal systems and interactive solutions.

A National Data Centre (NDC), a key component of Oman’s ‘Digital Society’ programme and set up by the Information Technology Authority (ITA), has started functioning here.

NDC is designed to provide a multi-tenant high availability data centre for all ministries to host their data as well as disaster recovery solution, with the objective of achieving improved business continuity for their IT systems.

The National Data Centre (NDC) designed and set-up by the Information technology Authority (ITA) was officially inaugurated on the 3rd May 2009 under the auspices of H.E. Ahmed bin Abdulnabi Macki, Minister of National Economy.

Several high level dignitaries including the Minister of Commerce & Industry, General Secretary of Ministry of Finance, Under-Secretary at the Ministry of Transport and Communications for Communications, Under Secretary at the Minister of Commerce & Industry, CEO of Omantel, CEO of PEIE, board of directors of ITA, a number of Excellencies and Under Secretaries and other notable guests attended this launch ceremony.

The National Data Centre (NDC), designed and set up by the Information Technology Authority (ITA), was officially inaugurated yesterday under the auspices of Ahmed bin Abdulnabi Macki, minister of national economy and deputy chairman of the Financial Affairs and Energy Resources Council, in the presence of several high-level dignitaries.

The NDC has been set up with the objective of ensuring improved business continuity across the wide network of the government's IT systems. The centre has been designed to provide all ministries with multi-tenant high-availability data storage facilities to host their wide array of information as well as to offer disaster recovery solutions. It currently hosts national level projects such as the government's e-Services portal, eTendering system and ITA's internal infrastructure projects and systems.

The Recruitment Solution through SMS Applications from the Royal Court Affairs (RCA) has won the prestigious World Summit Award in the e-government category this year.

Oman has won the coveted award among over 700 projects from 168 countries across the globe in the World Summit Award 2009. This innovative solution has also won the best e-content in the Arab region in the e-government category at the Bahrain International eGovernment Forum 2009 under the WSA program.
