- Cheonan and Asan Selected as “K-AI City” Pilot Sites
- Large-Scale Project Launched with KRW 610.9 Billion Investment
Dtonic, an artificial intelligence (AI) platform company, announced on the 22nd that it has been selected as the final operator for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s “AI Specialized Pilot City” project in collaboration with Cheonan and Asan cities and other major AI companies.
A total of 610.9 billion won in large-scale funding will be invested in this Cheonan-Asan city project alone. Dtonic plans to standardize urban data together with Cheonan and Asan, convert it into a format that can be utilized by AI, and establish an urban AI operational infrastructure capable of running a wide range of AI services. The core of the project is to transform urban data—previously limited in its utility due to inconsistent structures and spatiotemporal mismatches across institutions—into a “standardized AI urban data system” that connects the entire process from data collection and processing to agent services.
Based on this, the company will implement an urban management system utilizing agentic AI and physical AI, and plans to connect and operate the AI technologies and services of participating companies on a unified platform. The accumulated data will then be reused for developing perception-driven digital twins for cities and next-generation AI services, creating a virtuous cycle.
Dtonic has been responsible for building and operating data hubs for major metropolitan governments such as Seoul, Busan, Ulsan, Gyeongnam, Chungnam, and Chungbuk. It has also accumulated experience in realizing AI services based on urban data by participating in government-led AI data platform demonstration projects in Chungbuk and Jeju. On the 12th, it was also selected for the government-led “Smart City Specialized Complex Development Project” in partnership with Busan.
Dtonic plans to apply the technology and capabilities it has accumulated in major domestic and international cities to this project. CEO Jeon Yongju of Dtonic stated, “The competitiveness of an AI city comes not from individual technologies, but from a platform ecosystem in which a variety of AI services work organically together. Dtonic will connect data and AI to build an AI city ecosystem involving diverse businesses and institutions, and, together with Cheonan and Asan, we will create a global model for AI cities.”
