To check on your application for a job vacancy at the Civil Service Bureau (CSB), you do not have to go through the hassle of turning up personally at CSB's headquarters and standing in a long queue.

All what you need to do is to call the National Contact Centre (NCC) for Government Service on 065008080 and you will get the information you need within minutes.

Checking the status of job applications filed with the CSB is the first service activated under the multichannel NCC, launched by Prime Minister Nader Dahabi on Tuesday.

Every three months, three other public agencies’ services will be added to the NCC list, to cover services provided by 15 ministries and public agencies in two years, officials at the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology said.

The centre will be ready to provide information about people’s business with the Greater Amman Municipality, the Drivers and Vehicles Licensing Department, the Civil Status and Passport Department and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, among others.

A two-year outsourcing contract was awarded to CrysTelCall for operating and managing the centre, which seeks to provide people with access to public services and minimise the time citizens and businesses spend trying to obtain information through the traditional ways.

"The centre is a unique milestone in how Jordanian citizens will experience revamped governmental services in terms of availability, accessibility and reliability. The NCC will adhere to the highest global standards and will utilise the most advanced technology in order to achieve optimum synergy between the citizens and the government," Minister of Information and Communications Technology Bassem Roussan said at the launch.

E-Government Programme Director Hassan Hourani underlined the significance of the centre, saying: "The NCC will deliver information during and after government entities business hours through multiple channels including telephone, e-mail and SMS. This will, in return, reduce the need for visiting governmental entities and will provide extended hours of support throughout the weekends and holidays."

Rami Sweis, CEO of CrysTelCall, said: “The NCC has also proved to be an important landmark in building successful partnerships between the government and the private sector. By combining human resource management, training, change management and technology, the NCC will become an indispensable resource for citizens and businesses in their daily interaction with the government."
