Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) and Brunei Shell Marketing Co. Sdn Bhd (BSM) launched 'Kad Inden' or Fleet Card yesterday to replace the manual indent payment system used by the government to buy fuel from petrol stations.

The card was launched by Pehin Dato Hj Abdul Rahman ,bin Hj Ibrahim, Finance Minister II at the Ministry of Finance.

Also present were Pehin Dato Awang Haji Abdullah bin Dato Haji Bakar, Minister of Development, Chairman of Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam Berhad, Pehin Major General (B) Dato Awang Haji Mohammad bin Hj Daud, BIBD Managing Director Haji Muhammad Syaipuddin bin Haji Abdullah, Board of Directors of BSM and BIBD, senior government officers and senior BSM and BIBD officers.

The Fleet Card Management System aims to provide value-added services to the government's initiative towards e-Government through electronic payment and paperless office solutions. It is a cooperation project between Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam and Brunei Shell Marketing Company Sendirian Berhad in partnership with the Ministry of Finance.

The fleet card's use was launched June 1 to.all government departments, which should subscribe to the new system by July 31 this year. The fleet card management system is implemented through the use of BIBD's Kad Inden, where transaction payments will be using the government IT infrastructure .`TAFIS'.

There is an interface developed between the BIBD's fleet card system and TAFIS to allow faster billing on purchases of fuel.

The system is also integrated to the point of sales system installed at petrol stations and allows full automation process at the stations. The point of sales system allows facilities in sales, merchandising and inventory.
