The ceremony was held yesterday at Al-Mahabbah Room, Ministry of Communications. The engagement of the BSP consultancy team to conduct the review of the e-Government implementation was initiated and organised by the Ministry of Communications with consent of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan Brunei Darussalam.
The minister in his speech at the ceremony expressed gratitude and appreciation to BSP for the assistance and meeting the cost of the consultancy, adding that the report was constructive.
Meanwhile, Dr Henderson said "BSP has undertaken this task with our colleagues in Royal Dutch Shell in The Hague, and our technology partner, Cisco, and we have delivered a comprehensive report. This work has given BSP the opportunity to further understand the needs and requirements of the e-Government project.
More significantly, it has also enhanced the professional network between BSP personnel and employees from the Ministry of Communications.
"The review team has presented an independent assessment with the objective of recommending the very best for the nation."
Dr Henderson also took the opportunity to thank the government and the Minister of Communications for the opportunity to contribute to the nation. Also present at the ceremony was Deputy Minister of Communications, Dato Haji Yussof bin Hamid, key members of the BIT Council, government executive committee (EGPEC) members and members of the BSP consultancy team.
The BSP consultancy team comprised four BSP personnel, two resource persons from Shell Group and two consultants from Cisco system. Advisers for the project were Dato Paduka Awg Hj Yussof Hj Abdul Hamid and Dr Grahaeme Henderson. The government facilitator team was led by Awg Hj Ahmad bin Hj Abd Rahman, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office.
The objective of the review was to study the key factors and issues driving the e-Government programme, inventory the current status and draw up recommendation for improvements.
The review began at the end of May 2006 and was completed in mid-August. The government has allocated $900 million in the 8th National Development Plan for the implementation of the e-Government programme.
