The issuance of a decree for the establishment of an IT authority in Kuwait will compel the government to hasten remaining steps for the implementation of the e-government, said Kuwait's Deputy Prime Minister and State Minister for Cabinet Affairs Dr. Ismaeel Al-Shatti on Wednesday.

Speaking to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), he said, "The establishment of the IT authority is one of the basic requirements allowing our Singaporean partners to help Kuwaiti in implementing the e-government." He added that his visit to Singapore was to complete negotiations over the establishment of this authority for which the decree had been issued two weeks ago, as well as to follow up requirements for launching the e-government.

Moreover, Al-Shatti said that the structure of the IT authority would be the same as the one implemented in Singapore, adding that much could be learnt from the Singaporean experience in this field.

He also said that talks between the two sides would include the successful secretariat experience in the East Asian country and how to benefit from it in the Kuwaiti Cabinet's secretariat, as well as being briefed on the bidding mechanism used in the country.

On the e-government, Al-Shatti said that it would bridge the gap with advanced countries of the world.
