Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, has set a goal of becoming a global smart city through the development of the Red River. It will also start industrialization centered on semiconductors and artificial intelligence (AI).
Hanoi City held a 'Hanoi City's 100-year vision master plan and investment promotion presentation' at the Hanoi National Convention Center on the 29th (local time). More than 1,200 government officials and businessmen attended the event, including National Assembly Speaker Tran Tynman, Hanoi City Party Secretary Tran Deuk-Tang, and Hanoi City People's Committee Chairman Budai-Tang.
Hanoi's goal is a Global Innovation City that combines high-tech industries, culture, and a pleasant residential environment.
Chairman Budaitang said, "Hanoi City will create a transparent, stable, investment-friendly environment," adding, "To this end, we plan to change the urban infrastructure."
The city of Hanoi has established nine growth base strategies. The target areas are Old City, Red River, Northern, Eastern, Western, Southwest, Southern, South Central, and Northwest. The plan is to diversify the city's growth axis by fostering bases.
In particular, the Red River is developed as a key urban axis. Like Korea's Han River development, it plans to build an international business district, residential complex, waterfront park, and tourist facilities around the Red River. Roads around the Red River will also be built, such as Gangbyeonbuk-ro and Olympic Boulevard in Korea.
The industrial strategy is centered on high technology. Chairman Budaitang said, "We will develop high-tech industries such as semiconductors, AI, and data centers." In particular, it plans to foster Western Hoarak High-Tech Park as a national innovation base. There is a National Innovation Center in Hoarak.
On this day, tech companies such as Samsung Electronics, Nvidia, and FPT announced their growth strategies with Hanoi City. "One of Hanoi's 100-year visions is to grow Hanoi into the country's largest high-quality talent training hub based on government, business, and university cooperation," said Na Ki-hong, head of Samsung Electronics' Vietnam Strategic Cooperation Office. "Samsung is also focusing its capabilities on cultivating high-quality technology talents, and has started training semiconductor talents this year."
Meanwhile, Hanoi City signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with more than 50 domestic and foreign companies, including Maekyung Media, Samsung Electronics, and Lotte Department Store.
