As part of its integrated digital transformation project, the Ministry of Municipality has launched six new electronic services designed to streamline procedures for fishermen and ship owners.
The services include renting a parking lot for marine vessels at the port, renting a warehouse at the port, fishing licensing for ships and boats, fish transport licensing, fishermen's licensing, and fishing equipment permits.
The new electronic services are available on the website of the Ministry of Municipality. The services aim at easing of online application process, saving time and effort for beneficiaries, and bringing transparency and fair procedures.
The new electronic services have been developed by the Information Systems Department of the Ministry of Municipality, in cooperation with the Fish Affairs Department, reflecting the Ministry's commitment to achieving Qatar National Vision 2030.
The ministry has completed over 100 services out of 400 services which are being developed under its digital transformation project in a bid to provide smart and automated services to the public and beneficiary companies.
The digital services cover all sectors including agriculture, food security, urban development, general services and community services. The digital transformation project, which began in 2023, includes website of the ministry and its Oun app and solutions for the smart city. The Ministry of Municipality is developing its services by upgrading the procedures and re-engineering using AI and other modern technologies to make them more efficient for users.
One of the major benefits of digital transformation is the linkage with other government institutions for sharing the data. This helps reduce the requirements from applicants to upload documents and certificates every time.
The digital transformation project includes the development of all services provided by the ministry to all sectors such as municipalities, urban planning, agriculture and fisheries, public services, and joint services.
The project will bring about a qualitative leap towards smart city solutions by developing 400 services with a comprehensive development of all components of the technological infrastructure of services. It will enable users to avail of the services easily round the clock from anywhere without visiting the service centres.
The key features of the project include establishing a unified and integrated electronic portal for services and providing multiple electronic platforms for smooth communication and easy interaction.
