The Government of Uganda has renewed its push for a fully integrated digital service delivery system, with officials calling for an end to fragmented government platforms that slow down service delivery and compromise efficiency.
The call was made by the Minister of State for ICT and National Guidance, Godfrey Kabbyanga Baluku, while officiating the opening of a Residential Workshop on E-Services held at Country Lake Resort.
The workshop brings together key stakeholders in Uganda’s digital transformation agenda, focusing on digital identity systems, data management, interoperability, and secure integrated service platforms.
Kabbyanga said government is prioritizing a shift towards a citizen-centred digital system that enhances efficiency, transparency and accessibility of public services.
“We emphasized the urgent need to eliminate fragmentation across government systems and move towards a seamless, citizen-centered approach where services are efficient, accessible, and transparent,” he said.
He added that Uganda’s vision is to establish a modern digital government where data is trusted, systems are secure, and decision-making is based on reliable integrated information.
The minister also stressed the importance of protecting national interests in the development of digital solutions, including safeguarding citizen data and ensuring systems align with Uganda’s legal and institutional frameworks.
“I also underscored the importance of safeguarding national interests ensuring that all digital solutions are adapted to our context, protect citizen data, and align with our legal and institutional frameworks,” Kabyanga said.
He further emphasized inclusivity in the rollout of e-services, warning against exclusion in the digital transition.
“As we expand e-services, inclusivity remains paramount. No Ugandan should be left behind technology must bridge gaps, not widen them,” he noted.
Kabbyanga called on stakeholders at the workshop to translate discussions into practical reforms that strengthen public service delivery across government institutions.
