Kenya is to embark on reconstructing of the its e-government system for the better networking of government offices in Nairobi.

This will be for the purpose of making information accessible to all the ministries by the touch of a button. The network will see 28 ministry Headquarter ministries buildings in Nairobi networked. Inclusion of the stations out of Nairobi will be later after the Nairobi building connections have materialized.

During the workshop on Government Common Core Network held in Nairobi, the government asked the stakeholders to alter their business plan so that it can suit the government’s plan for building the government Common Core Network proposed designed. There was also presentation of the proposed Government Data Centre. The government is to come up with connectivity tenders to be awarded to the stakeholders for the beginning of the construction of the system. This would create more jobs for private sector because it is a long term project.
