The Ministry of Taxes of Azerbaijan has launched a twinning project of the European Commission "Support to the Ministry of Taxes of Azerbaijan in E-Audit".

At the III Eurasian Forum advisor to tax minister of Azerbaijan Asaf Asadov informed that the project was developed and submitted to the European Commission in 2010, and its implementation began in March 2011 and will continue until March 2013.

"The project comprises six components: development of e-audit introduction base (3 months); choice of software (2 months); creation of database (6 months); development of methodology and training courses for auditors (7 months); e-accounting introduction (6 months); introduction of e-audit (7 months)," Asadov said.

He added that e-audit introduction in Azerbaijan was going to become in the future an important component of E-Government Project. As a result of the twinning project the country will ensure transparency and efficiency of tax audits and reduce use of time and human resources. It will also be ensured development of Taxes Ministry's database in line with international standards, the knowledge.

"As a result of twinning project, Azerbaijan will become the first CIS country to introduce modern e-audit system," Asadov emphasized.
