Experts predict that by the end of 2015 the volume of e-commerce market in Kazakhstan may reach $3.6 billion or 4 percent of the total retail market, the official website of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan reported citing Mirbolat Ayupov, the chairman of the National Info-Communications Holding Zerde.

In 2013 the volume of e-commerce market reached $450 million-$600 million, which is about 2 percent of the total retail market.

Kazakhstan is currently implementing the state program "Information Kazakhstan-2020", aimed at further development of e-government and electronic commerce in the country, the Kazakhstanskaya Pravda newspaper reported. Today, according to the UN survey to promote e-government, Kazakhstan is ranked 38th among 190 countries. Kazakhstan is the 2nd in terms of development of e-participation, sharing this place with Singapore. Tangible results have been achieved in the development of telecommunications infrastructure.

Today Kazakhstan has created the infrastructure to provide public services "from the state to population," the newspaper quoted the Chairman of the Kazakh Agency for Communications and Information, Askar Zhumagaliyev, as saying at the opening of ASTEX 2014 International Exhibition and Conference in May. The next stage is an active promotion of e-commerce services. Thus, the turnover of e-commerce in Kazakhstan amounted to $600 million and each year it grows at a good pace — more than two-fold.
