Mauritius is setting up an online common library to allow students to have access to all existing resources of libraries of higher educational institutions, the Tertiary Education Commission said on Tuesday.
The Ministry of Education also launched this week Eduweb, a new educational project for the teaching staff of colleges and universities.
The programmes of Eduweb will be broadcast on the internet via webcasting.
Meanwhile, the Pan African e-Network, an initiative of the former Indian President Abdul Kalam, has started functioning in the island.
The network, which regroups 53 African countries by satellite and fibre optics, will promote telemedicine, internet and broadcast programmes on e-governance and e-commerce, among other things.
