Mauritian company wins contract to set up e-government project in Namibia

Port Louis (Mauritius The Mauritius State Informatics Limited (MSIL) has landed a big contract from the Namibian government to advise and help put in place an e-government project, APA learns in the Mauritian capital Port Louis on Friday.

Kemraz Mohee, Director of the MSIL indicated here that the state company has won the 18-month contract after the Namibian government had invited tenders.

He said that Namibia holds the 161st place in the World E-readiness Index while Mauritius is at the 63rd place.

Mohee pointed out that though MSIL has won contracts in some 20 mainland African countries in the logistics domain, this is the biggest contract that the company has succeeded to win in consultancy.

"The Namibian project will constitute a show-case of the know-how of Mauritius in the Information Technology sector for other African countries of the Southern African Development Community such as Botswana", said the director.
