TUCAD expressed its intention to collaborate with the Burkinabe government to develop a Smart City that would serve as a technology hub dedicated to information technologies.

The Minister of Digital Transition, Postal and Electronic Communications of Burkina Faso, Dr. Aminata Zerbo/Sabane, received a delegation from the Tunisian organization Tunisia for the Development of Africa (TUCAD) on October 9, 2025. The meeting focused on strengthening digital cooperation between Tunisia and Burkina Faso, particularly through the creation of a Smart City project. The delegation was led by TUCAD President Anis Jaziri, who presented the organization’s proposal for an ambitious digital investment initiative in Burkina Faso.

TUCAD expressed its intention to collaborate with the Burkinabe government to develop a Smart City that would serve as a technology hub dedicated to information technologies. The Tunisian representatives emphasized that their country possesses extensive experience and a dynamic ecosystem that supports start-ups, incubators, and accelerators, and they expressed their willingness to share this expertise with Burkina Faso. The organization also reaffirmed its readiness to contribute to financing and implementing the project once it takes shape.

Minister Zerbo/Sabane welcomed the initiative, highlighting its potential to strengthen digital innovation and regional cooperation. Both parties agreed to continue discussions through their respective technical teams in order to evaluate the project’s feasibility, define its technical requirements, and explore avenues for mobilizing funding. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to advance the partnership and lay the groundwork for a sustainable digital transformation project in Burkina Faso.
