The NeSDS Programme published 10 eService Delivery Standards following wide ranging consultation and have created a self-assessment tool hosted by ESD Toolkit, allowing Local Authorities to assess themselves against each of the eStandards.
The Partnership between NeSDS and ESD Toolkit means that the eStandards will be supported by the wider ESD Toolkit community and be made available through the regional ESD Toolkit support network.
Further to the 200 Local Authorities who took part in creating the eStandards and the 7000 downloads that were made during the NeSDS Public Consultation in December 2005, over 45 Local Authorities have already provided cases studies on use of the eStandards or registered for self assessment.
The regional eGovernment Partnerships have also agreed their support and assistance for the NeSDS rollout programme.
"The NeSDS eStandards provides a real working roadmap for Local Government to meet the challenges faced by Transformation," said Ray Whitehouse, Head of IT at Havering LBC, leading the NeSDS programme. "We have found them very useful in making the changes we need to make at Havering and are very pleased to see they have been actively supported and taken up by Local Authorities across England".
Rosi Sommerville of ESD Toolkit added: "We are very pleased to be working closely on the NeSDS eStandards Programme. We believe the eStandards are of great benefit to Local Authorities and are an example of the extra benefits that local government can gain by subscribing to ESD Toolkit."
The self-assessment tool and general information is available at www.nesds.gov.uk.
