The redesigned website (www.dubaicustoms.gov.ae) enables users to easily access all Dubai Customs e-services and update themselves on the department’s latest news and activities.
According to a senior official, the move serves decision-makers, economic experts and the media by providing detailed statistics on Dubai international trade and other important figures.
Khalil Saqr, Director of Corporate Communication Department, said on Monday that the refurbished portal is in line with the ‘Government Websites Excellence Model’ developed by Dubai eGovernment based on customer-focused concept.
The customs ran an opinion poll of website users in 2010 to get their feedback and impressions on the general look of the website, its content and services. “Whatever conformed with Dubai Customs’ strategy and vision to facilitate movement of legitimate trade has been adopted and implemented.” One of the prominent improvements is catering to people with special needs. “There is a feature that enables people with visual impairment to listen to an audio version of texts, both in Arabic and English, and a feature to increase or decrease font size to better serve users with partial vision.”
It features Dubai Customs official pages on social networking sites. “Other key modifications include an improved look of the website homepage, a faster user-friendly browsing, a print option for all website pages, cutting-edge search engine, well-structured and efficient site map, listing available vacancies at Dubai Customs in special section and displaying statistics of non-oil Dubai trade with the world.”
