Transforming Government since 2001
Bulgaria's government launched a new e-portal, which provides access to more than 1,300 services in various ministries, agencies and municipalities.

The portal makes it possible for the citizens to get on-line information about hundreds of services as well as to download necessary forms.

"The next step in the portal's development will be e-working of documents as the operations will be performed between the administrative structures themselves," said the head of E-Government DirectorateYuriy Alkalay.

Among the first projects to be developed at the beginning of the next year is launching of an e-pay system.

The new project was officially presented by Prime Minister Sergey Stanishev and the Minister of State Administration Nikolay Vassilev.

A recently adopted plan of the European Commission provides for saving about EUR 300 B annually after introducing the administrative e-services in the EU member-states.
