
Emir of Kuwait H H Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah honoured Qatar’s official e-Government Portal (Hukoomi) and the smart phone application of the Ministry of Interior (Metrash 2) for winning the 2017 H H Sheikh Salem Al Ali Al Sabah Informatics Award in the “Government Sector” category.
The Minister of Transport and Communications H E Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti and Director General of Public Security Staff Major General H E Saad bin Jassem Al Khulaifi received the awards at a ceremony organised at Bayan Palace in the capital Kuwait yesterday. The Minister of Transport and Communications expressed thanks and appreciation to the Emir of Kuwait for his patronage and continuing encouragement to the Award, as well as to H H Sheikh Salem Al Ali Al Sabah. The Minister also thanked organisers of the event for their efforts and successful organisation.
H E Saad bin Jassim Al Khulaifi expressed his happiness for winning the Ministry of Interior this prestigious award. He stressed that Qatar was keen to participate in such events to enrich experiences and knowledge in all fields that serve security and humanity among the various countries in the world.
He highlighted the growing brotherly relations between Qatar and Kuwait in various fields under the wise leaderships of two brotherly countries.
After launching Hukoomi Phase 3, the portal is rich with information about at least 1380 digital services. Some 690 of them can be accessed and executed by companies, citizens, residents and visitors. They cover multiple sectors such as health, education and business. The user-friendly portal has enhanced search functions and can also be accessed by people with disabilities. It also includes a special page for migrant workers in five languages.
Hukoomi is also available on mobile devices with unique user experience. The portal is under an ongoing improvement and enhancement operation for better functioning. Matrash 2 is an excellent smart phone application that provides more than 160 services of the Ministry of Interior related to residence, visas, passports, traffic, etc., effortlessly and with ease, in addition to many information services and requests.
H H Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah Informatics Award is one of the most prestigious awards in the region in terms of its comprehensive and diverse categories related to innovation and development.
The Award was first launched in 2001 to promote online knowledge and develop human capacity in the realm of informatics. It includes three sections. The Kuwait Award is focused on Kuwaiti society; individuals, government and nongovernment entities as well as citizens and non-Arab residents. The Arab World Award is open for individuals and organizations from all Arab countries. The Appreciation Award is dedicated for individuals and organizations from Kuwait and the Arab countries in general for distinguished projects, initiatives and milestones in the realm of informational development.
