While the number of mPay services has not been increased, the adoptability of the current service witnessed a remarkable hike up to 39 per cent in 2012, compared to 2011, Ahmad Bin Humaidan, Director General of Dubai eGovernment told Gulf News.
mPay generated Dh8,530,379 via 36,325 transactions by the end of 2012 compared with Dh7,651,198 through 26,174 transactions in the previous year.
He said: “What we are looking for as an eGovernment is not to increase the number of services but to encourage more customers to use it. And this is an achievable target amid the current mobility revolution.”
However, Bin Humaidan remarked that they are considering the expansion of individual and corporate beneficiaries from this service, either by introducing new departments and entities or adding new services of concern to customers.
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa), Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Police were the top three government entities respectively in terms of the electronically collected amounts, while RTA, Dewa and Dubai Police were the top three government entities respectively in terms of the number of transactions achieved.
