Oman’s first mobile wallet launched by Bank Muscat, the flagship financial services provider in the sultanate, has evoked a strong response.

The innovative bm Wallet marks yet another secure and convenient payment channel, reiterating the bank’s strong lead in rolling out electronic payment facility as part of the country’s e-Government initiative.

As smart cities become a reality in the GCC, smart buildings are increasingly becoming more prevalent because of the optimised efficiency and convenience they offer, for both operators and tenants.

However, wider adoption of smart building technology should stimulate corporations and governments to ensure that they are adequately prepared for potential cyber risks, stated in a comprehensive report titled ‘Cybersmart Buildings’ co-authored by Booz Allen Hamilton and Johnson Controls.

A new safe and secure system for mobile payment clearing and switching (MpClear) to enhance the payment infrastructure was launched on Sunday, according to the Central Bank of Oman.

The Sultanate becomes the first among Gulf Cooperation Council countries to have in place such a system guided by the CBO.

Bank Muscat has launched Oman’s first mobile wallet. The innovative bm Wallet marks yet another secure and convenient payment channel, reiterating the bank’s strong lead in rolling out electronic payment facility as part of the country’s e-Government initiative.

The bm Wallet is primarily a state-of-the-art ‘cash on mobile’ solution which can be used for cash transfers to other mobile wallet users based on mobile numbers and aliases, according to a press release.

A unique system for mobile payment clearing and switching (MpClear) was launched on Sunday, said the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) in a statement. This will enhance the payment infrastructure of the country.

With the launch of this system, Oman is the first country within the GCC countries to implement such system under the Central Bank leadership.
