  • PK: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Govt to hold local bodies election under biometrics system: Shireen Mazari

    Information secretary of PTI, Shireen Mazari has said that KP will be the first province to hold local bodies elections under biometrics system.

    Talking to a private news channel, PTI leader said that before elections Imran khan had announced that local bodies' elections would be held within 90 days and we shall stick to that promise.

    To a question she said that it is a common understanding between all the provinces that local bodies' elections are to be held.

  • PK: KPK LG polls: PTI govt holds trial voting under biometric system

    PTI chief Imran Khan said he would ensure transparency in upcoming LG polls in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

    PESHAWAR (NNI) The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is conducting a trial voting under new biometric system in an effort to hold free and fair local government elections across the province.

    The demo polling is arranged in a neighborhood and village council of Peshawar.

  • PK: More centres for delivery of Pak Cards

    Deputy Chairman National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), Tariq Malik on Saturday said more distribution centres have been opened to expedite the process of issuance of Pakistan Cards to flood-hit families in Sindh.

    The Authority has set up total 31 Centres so far for issuance and processing of such Cards in nearly all-major flood-hit districts including Badin, Shaheed Benazirabad, Mirpur Khas and Tando Muhammad Khan while preparations are also underway for opening of additional sites in Tando Muhammad Khan and new centres in Sangarh, he told APP.

  • PK: NADRA all set to launch Biometric Verification System for SIM issuance

    NADRA has successfully prepared a robust and authentic Biometric Verification System for Telecom operators, all preparations for Biometric Verification Systems have been carried out and NADRA is ready for launch from 28th February, 2013. NADRA spokesperson said this in a statement issued here today.

    She added that earlier, all telecom operators have agreed with Prime Minister of Pakistan to launch Biometric Verification for issuance of SIM from 28th Feb, 2013.

  • PK: NADRA biometrics making electoral system transparent: Malik

    Chairman of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) Tariq Malik said that biometrics system would improve and make the electoral system transparent. He said that the NADRA had developed a foolproof biometrics system, which would diminish the chances of error. He said this advance technology would bring positive results and transparency in the electoral process.

    Talking to Pakistan Television, Tariq Malik said that a conspiracy was being hatched against the national institution. Replying to a question, he said that the government has decided to register a case against the foreign newspaper which was making baseless and false propaganda. He said that the recent issue raised by the international paper against a person holding dual nationality was baseless, fabricated and an effort to malign the national institution.

  • PK: Nadra does not have biometric data of 3.72m women voters

    The National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) does not have biometric record of as many as 3.72 million women voters.

    According to Nadra’s district-wise data, Punjab tops the list where fingerprints and photographs of more than 2.62 million women have not been made available to the registration authority.

    In Rawalpindi tehsil alone, out of 1.4 million registered voters, Nadra does not have the biometric record of 45,461 women.

    According to official sources, currently under the directions of ministry of interior and Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), Nadra is in the process of evolving a biometric verification system for use at mobile companies’ outlets to stop issuance of illegal SIMs.

According to official sources, currently under the directions of Ministry of Interior and Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), NADRA is in the process of evolving a biometric verification system for use at mobile companies’ outlets to stop issuance of illegal SIMs. NADRA had been providing its expertise to cellular mobile operators so that they can verify the national identity cards of citizens when they purchase SIMs from their franchises.

  • PK: Nadra launches smart identity cards for children

    The National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) is set to start issuing chip-based Smart National Identity Cards for children of under eighteen. According to a press release, the smart cards for children, having more value added services, are being issued after the successful launch of Chip-Based Smart National Identity Cards (SNIC) for the adult population of the country. The Child Registration Certificate (CRC) would remain valid and Nadra would continue issuing the same as per current registration policy.

    The launch of state of the art Smart Identity Card is to extend an experience of Hi-Tech security solution for the protection of juveniles' identity. Chairman Nadra Tariq Malik said the chip-based Smart Identity Card for the children will offer multi-dimensional usage and services, health, educational, social and financial inclusion programs. The new card for children would be capable of holding applications and data from the health, education and social sector such as vaccination records, academic records and polio registrations, he added.

  • PK: NADRA proposes SIM verification through biometrics

    National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has proposed a comprehensive solution of Biometric based verification of CNICs for issuance of SIMs to the Telcos.

    In this regard NADRA conducted a live demonstration of Biometric verification of computerized national identity card for issuance of SIMs, to the TELCOs Todays at NADRA Headquarters.

    NADRA gave a comprehensive presentation and addressed technical issues raised by telecom companies, NADRA spokesman said in a statement issued here.

  • PK: Nadra registers 96 percent of adult population through biometric technology

    Pakistan has emerged as one of the few countries in the world where 96 percent of the adult population has been registered through the most secure biometric technology, introduced by National Database Registration Authority (NADRA), Spokesperson said here on Friday.

    Spokesperson informed that the registration level in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been observed as 99.9 percent, followed by Punjab 99 percent, Gilgit-Baltistan 89 percent, Sindh and Fata as 88 percent and Balochistan 76 percent against the projected population.

  • PK: NADRA resolves around 151,220 complaints regarding Watan cards, Tariq Malik

    Using its efficient Complaints Redressal System, National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA) has effectively and transparently resolved 151,220 complaints from flood affected population who had been facing different problems in getting Watan cards, this was stated by Deputy Chairman NADRA Tariq Malik.

    According to press release issued here on Saturday, the system’s objective was to address the complaints from genuine beneficiaries, which were unable to get registered for Watan cards. “We believe that we have successfully made an effective and adequate mechanism that yields transparent delivery of relief and rehabilitation aid to the affected population,” said Tariq Malik.

  • PK: Nadra to introduce smart ID card for pensioners

    President Asif Ali Zardari has advised the government to facilitate the pensioners by streamlining the pension disbursement mechanism for facilitating all pensioners particularly the disabled ones.

    The President while taking serious note of the agonies being faced by the pensioners in collecting their monthly pensions gave these directions at a meeting specially convened for the purpose in the Presidency late Friday.

    The meeting was attended among others by the Auditor General of Pakistan, Finance Secretary, President National Bank of Pakistan, Chairman NADRA, Director General National Savings and Secretary General to the President Salman Farouqui.

    National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) on Thursday claimed that it has developed a mechanism to issue Biometrics Smart Cards to facilitate pensioners.

    The programme would help the pensioners to withdraw their pension from any biometrics enabled platform used by banks, post offices and any other alternative channels.

    All the technology components are fully developed by NADRA, tested and ready for deployment.

    National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) would facilitate pensioners through Biometrics Smart Cards (BSC) and they would be able to withdraw their pension from any biometrics enabled platform used by banks, post offices and any other alternate channels. The proposed system comprises three main elements starting from the collection of pensioner’s data to eliminate duplication and ghost pensioners, issuance of Smart Identity Cards and then the deployment of Pension Disbursement system to be utilized by all disbursing partner entities.

    An official at NADRA on Sunday enumerated different projects and mentioned another programme to manage Sindh Zakat System as in collaboration with Provincial Ushr and Zakat Department, a Guzara Allowance programme has been developed to facilitate initially 85,000 beneficiaries.

  • PK: Policing communication: PTA assures biometric SIM registration system by December

    After orders from the Peshawar High Court, an emergency meeting was chaired by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Home Secretary Syed Akhtar Ali Shah to discuss the growing use of unverified SIMs in terrorism activities.

    According to a handout issued on Sunday, the participants were briefed by Shah about the use of illegally acquired mobile SIMs in ongoing terrorism activities and non-compliance of standard operating procedure (SOPs) framed by the Pakistan Telecom Authority (PTA) for SIM activation.

    Deputy Commissioner Syed Zaheerul Islam, PTA Director Kamran Khan, Director General Abdul Samad, Assistant Director Jawad Akhtar, officials of the home department and intelligence agencies were also present.

  • PK: President directs to facilitate pensioners

  • PK: Public transport: Smart cards for use in all buses planned

    The Lahore Transport Company (LTC) is to install smart card readers in all buses so commuters can use public transport all over the city on the same cards.

    Travellers on the Metro Bus Service (MBS) already have the option of buying a smart card, costing Rs133, for multiple journeys. The LTC and the Punjab Metro Bus Authority (PMBA) are considering whether to introduce a new smart card for all buses, or just allow the Metro Bus cards to be used on other buses.

  • PK: Punjab introducing biometrics system to better attendance

    Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said here on Monday that the future of Pakistan is linked with the improvement of technical education. “The majority of our population consists of young people. By equipping them with technical education, not only unemployment can be eliminated but the country can also be put on the road to progress speedily,” Shahbaz said while addressing a meeting held to review the implementation of programme of technical education being run by the Punjab Vocational Training Council.

    “Making our new generation skilful according to the needs of the market is a challenge. My government is taking all possible steps for the promotion of technical education, despite its limited resources. A challenge can be met in a better way by promoting public-private partnership. For this, a coordinated programme should be evolved for the promotion of technical education in Punjab and this programme should be implemented speedily.”

  • PK: Sale and purchase of land: Biometric system being launched

    To make sale and purchase of land in co-operative housing societies transparent and saving the people from fraud, a pilot project of biometric system is being launched for the first three months and the record of co-operative housing societies will be computerised within next six months all over the province.

    This was stated by Senior Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab, Senator Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa while presiding over a meeting here on Friday.

    Provincial Minister for Law, Rana Sanaullah, Advisor to Chief Minister, Raja Ishfaq Sarwar, Secretary Co-operative, Secretary Housing, Additional Secretary, Local Government, Member Board of Revenue, Commissioner Lahore, DCO Lahore and DG LDA were also present on this occasion.
