  • USA: www.Maine.gov Recognized for Web Site Excellence in the 2006 Best of the Web Awards

    The official Web site of the state of Maine (www.Maine.gov) has again been named one of the best state government sites in the nation. Maine.gov was ranked second in the 2006 Center for Digital Government Best of the Web national competition for government Web site excellence. Since the Best of the Web competition began in 1996, Maine has received six top-three placements, making Maine.gov the most consistently honored Web portal in the country.

    As part of the 2006 Best of the Web competition, Maine.gov also earned a Digital Government Achievement Award in recognition of the state’s online suite of services for the Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV). This suite includes vehicle registration renewals, license renewals, driving record searches, and vanity license plate orders. With this suite of services, the Bureau of Motor Vehicles has found a way to make services more accessible for the citizens of the state of Maine while also saving them time and money in the process.

  • User satisfaction with U.S. government Web sites rises

    Thirteen sites had scores above 80, which is considered superior

    User satisfaction with federal government Web sites has risen for the second straight quarter, according to the American Customer Satisfaction Index, which measures the online performance of a variety of Web sites.

    The improvement in satisfaction is a result of slight improvements across all of the elements that drive Web site satisfaction and are common across most sites: content, functionality, navigation, site performance, look and feel, and search, according to Ann Arbor, Mich.-based ForeSee Results, a sponsor of the ACSI, which is produced by the University of Michigan.

  • Viet Nam climbs 14 spots on UN E-governance readiness standings

    Viet Nam has gained more 14 spots in the UN 2008 E-governance readiness index from the country’s position in 2005, climbing to the 91st among 192 ranked countries.

    The 2008 UN E-Government Readiness Survey, released on January 5, is the fourth edition of the index, and assesses 192 UN member states on their application of information and communication technologies to serve and interact with citizens.

  • Vietnam aims to lead in e-government

    In September 2010, the Prime Minister of Vietnam approved the vision for Vietnam to become a leading country in the area of IT and e-government implementation.

    Dr Nguyen Minh Hong, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Information and Communications, highlights that to achieve this, a lot of frameworks and regulations need to be put in place, in areas such as information security and infrastructure building.

    “The application of IT has become an integral part of government management, implementation of state policies, bridging the digital gap and improving services to the people,” Dr Hong highlights the importance of government IT at FutureGov Forum Vietnam 2011, held on 14 June in Crowne Plaza West Hanoi Hotel in the Vietnamese capital.

  • Vietnam aims to leap by 5-7 places in business environment improvement rankings in 2019

    The Government plans to drastically boost the improvement of the business environment, targeting to put Vietnam's business environment and competitiveness into the ASEAN top 4.

    The target was announced at a national teleconference between the Government and 63 provinces and cities nationwide in Hanoi on December 28, under the draft Resolution on continuing to carry out the main solutions to improve the business environment and national competitiveness in 2019, towards 2021, as presented at the conference.

  • Vietnam climbs to 15th in world connectivity ranking

    Vietnam leaped up four ranks to stand at 15th on the 2010 connectivity scorecard, which was recently announced by Nokia Siemens Networks.

    The Connectivity Scorecard is a global ICT index -- the first of its kind to rank 50 countries worldwide not only on their deployment of ICT infrastructure but also to measure the extent to which governments, businesses and consumers make use of connectivity technologies to enhance social and economic prosperity.

  • Vietnam improves on e-Government index

    Vietnam ranks 91st of 192 UN member nations on the e-government development readiness index 2008, 14 places better than 2005.

    The country is rated 16th for the readiness to use e-government services (the indicator of the people’s attention and participation in the government’s e-government programs and services). This is a great jump for Vietnam compared to 2005, when it was ranked 63rd.

  • Vietnam moves up UN’s e-government readiness index

    Vietnam ranks 91 out of 192 countries surveyed by the United Nations (UN) for e-government readiness, the UN report said last weekend.

    The country climbed 14 places compared to the last survey in 2005, scoring an index of 0.4558 of the total 1.000, according to the survey which was carried out by the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) of the United Nations Secretariat.

    The e-government readiness index shows a country’s application of information and communication technologies (ICT) in providing information, products and services to its citizens.

  • Vietnam up one place in UN e-government index ranking

    Vietnam has moved up one place to rank 88th among the 193 countries in the United Nations E-Government Survey 2018.

    Vietnam scored High in the Online Services Index (OSI) and E-Participation Index (EPI) (up from 0.5 points to 0.75 points).

    In the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Vietnam was ranked sixth after Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Brunei.

  • Vietnam: Online public services excel

    Vietnam has made a big hop in the world’s e-government rankings due to increased website usage and telecom infrastructure upgrades.

    The Vietnam on World IT map 2008 report by the Ho Chi Minh City Computer Association last week said the country has made remarkably improvements in United Nations Public Administration Network or the UNPAN’s e-government index.

    Vietnam’s 91st ranking in the 2008 e-government index is 16 grades higher than previous years. Of which, the Vietnam’s Web Measure index was 0.4448, higher than 0.2231 of 2005 and its telecommunications infrastructure index was 0.1081 compared to 0.0489 in 2005.

  • Vietnam's e-governance rating goes up

    With an index of 0.364, Vietnam jumped seven steps to rank 105 in terms of e-governance performance, according to the latest United Nations study analyzing the current status of e-government in the world.

    The 2005 report by the UN Online Network in Public Administration and Finance (UNPAN) rated the Southeast Asian country the 112th position among 191 countries worldwide.

    On July 10, 2020, the United Nations released its E-Government Survey 2020. With an overall score of 0.66 on the E-Government Development Index (EGDI), Vietnam moved up two places from last year and was ranked 86th among 193 member states. Though Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Brunei, and the Philippines scored higher, Vietnam has so far already made some substantial improvements on e-governance and hopes to be among the top four Southeast Asian nations by 2025.

    Global e-government rankings affect Vietnam’s investment attractiveness, national competitiveness, and negotiations on international trade deals, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam said at a recent meeting.

    Vietnam is ranked 89th overall among 193 countries in the United Nations E-Government Survey 2016. Its rankings in three component categories are 74th in the Online Service Index, 110th in the Telecommunication Infrastructure Index, and 127th in the Human Capital Index.

  • VN: Hanoi among the world’s 100 smartest cities

    Hanoi was ranked among the world’s 100 smartest cities, according to the 2024 Smart City Index. The index was produced by the Institute for Management Development (IMD) World Competitiveness Center’s Smart City Observatory in collaboration with the World Smart Sustainable Cities Organization (WeGO).

    This year, Hanoi ranked 97th, up 3 places compared to last year. This result is partly due to the city’s initial achievements in digital transformation. For the first time, municipal leaders used completely digital signatures on a shared software for the administrative system. All state agencies in the capital city have applied digital signatures. A number of shared information databases have been deployed to administrations at all levels to better serve internal operations and handle administrative procedures.

  • VN: Hanoi among world’s 100 smartest cities

    The capital of Hanoi was named the world’s 97th smartest city, moving up three places from its ranking in 2023, according to the 2024 Smart City Index.

    The index was produced by the Swiss business school Institute for Management Development (IMD) World Competitiveness Centre’s Smart City Observatory in collaboration with the World Smart Sustainable Cities Organization (WeGO). It listed 142 cities in all and graded them on the basis of how they use advanced technology to improve the lives of their citizens.

  • VN: Hanoi gains, while HCM City loses ground in global smart city ranking

    Both Hanoi and HCM City received a rather poor scores of CCC in the Technology aspect, while in terms of Structures, the capital city Hanoi fared a little better than the southern economic center (CC compared to CCC).

    Hanoi earned the 97th position in a global smart city ranking, up three places compared to last year, while HCM City slid down two places to 105th.

  • VN: Hanoi moves three notches up smart city rankings

    Hanoi has moved up three places from last year to reach 97th in the 2024 Smart City Index, as compiled by the International Institute for Management Development of Switzerland.

    In Asia alone, Hanoi ranks 20th out of 28 cities, behind several cities such as Bangkok (Thailand), Osaka (Japan), and above some cities such as Jakarta (Indonesia), and Mumbai (India).
