Transforming Government since 2001
The first "e-government" workshops have officially opened at the Regions and local authorities who have qualified for co-financing from the Ministry for Innovation and Technology. The first round of financing will be distributed at the end of November. This was announced by the minister, Lucio Stanca, who said that there are 138 projects with a total of 120 million euro in financing. These were selected by an evaluation commission. This financing is coupled with resources that will be provided by the Regions and local authorities, as well as European Community funds worth another 240 million euro.

Among the "workshops" are 98 projects linked to the creation of services for citizens and businesses, while another 40 are for the creation of regional or territorial infrastructures. A total of 360 million euro overall will be used in the next 18-24 months, and the funding, the minister explained, will be distributed as the projects' objectives are met.
