The E-Government Trend Report ranked more than 11,000 official local and state government Web sites on effectiveness at providing Web site based public services.
York and Gloucester were among only 18 sites to receive an A+ on its report card and to be named the best Web sites in their population category. Gloucester was named best in the population category of 10,001 to 50,000. York County's Web site was named the best at serving a population of 50,001 to 250,000.
Gloucester's Web site can be viewed at www.gloucesterva.info". York's site can be viewed at www.yorkcounty.gov".
The council's award will be presented to Gloucester's Internet technology department at tonight's regular board of supervisors meeting at 7 p.m. in the Colonial Courthouse.
Also at tonight's meeting, George Baines, Gloucester County director of information technology, is scheduled to present upcoming plans to stream supervisor meetings live over the Internet.
Two public hearings also will be held tonight, beginning at 8 p.m. Based on authorization given by a recent General Assembly bill amendment, Gloucester County has proposed raising court fees assessed on all criminal and traffic cases from $5 to $10. The increased fees could represent a general fund revenue increase of about $28,200 and would go to defer security costs.
A second public hearing will discuss a request by Scott Kozinski to rezone 2.2 acres in Ware from rural business to bayside conservation. Hearing documents said Kozinksi wants to re-establish the property as a residence. The move would be consistent with Comprehensive Plan recommendations for the district and is supported by the county's planning department, documents said.
