The Sabah state government is roping in Huawei Technologies Malaysia Sdn Bhd to accelerate its digital transformation initiatives.

It has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Huawei Technologies Malaysia Sdn Bhd at the company’s Huawei headquarters here on Nov 11.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, who witnessed the signing of the agreement during his trade visit to China, said the partnership was a significant leap towards a digital future for Sabah.

“This partnership with Huawei Technologies will empower our state and its citizens to reap the benefits of technological innovation, fostering economic growth and improved public services.

“I am happy to note that under the MoU, Huawei Technologies will provide consultancy and advisory services in agriculture, smart manufacturing under Industry 4.0, tourism, smart-city planning, eCommerce, digital infrastructure, inclusive connectivity and digital government,” Hajiji pointed out.

He added that the working relationship would assist Sabah in achieving its aim of digitising the state government.

Huawei Malaysia chief executive officer Simon Sun said Huawei was ready to support it in building a smart, digitally innovative and sustainable state.

Additionally, under the MoU, Huawei Technologies would explore collaborative efforts to initiate the implementation of digital services that are artifical intelligence-ready and data-centric for the Government, businesses and the community.The MoU was signed by state public service director-general Datuk Zainuddin Aman while Sun signed on behalf of Huawei.

Huawei board director cum president of Huawei Digital Power Hou Jinlong and Huawei president for Global Public Sector, Xia Zun were also present at the signing ceremony.

Chief Minister was also taken on a tour of Huawei Technologies on smart-city operations, intelligent education at the Huawei Enterprise Business Von Neumann Exhibition Hall.
