A touch screen project called e-Soochana Sahayata counter will be launched in the district headquarters soon for the benefit of the citizens, collector Mr Satyabrata Sahu said, while inaugurating a video conference studio at the collectorate today.

The video conference facility has been set up with hardware and technical support of National Informatics Centre. Today, the video conference studio was formally inaugurated by Mr Sahu. Mr Sitanath Rath, OAS-I, project director, DRDA-cum-ADM, sub-collector Mr Debendra Singh and other officials were present during the inauguration.

Mr Bibhuti Bhusan Rout, DIO of NIC, said the studio would facilitate direct discussions and conferencing among officials at district, state and central levels. He informed the gathering that medical e-referral services could also be available to the rural masses in the future.

The video conferencing was inaugurated today by Mr Sahu talking to regional director of NIC in Bhubaneswar. The collector felt that the launch of the video conferencing system would be a major step in fulfilling the objectives of e-governance.

Mr Rout said the touch screen project ~ the third of its kind in the state ~ would enable the citizens to garner information from officials.
