Chandigarh, Oct 5: Haryana has been rated as an Aspiring Leader in e-Governance Readiness Index of the country for year 2005-06 and winner of first prize for TELECOMM India Excellence Award 2007.

Haryana Chief Secretary Promilla Issar today said the Haryana was one of the front-runner states in implementing State Wide Area Network and Common Service Centres (e-DISHA) projects.

The state sector Mission Mode Projects of National e-Governance Plan was being implemented, she added.

Highlighting the achievements in the field of e-Governance by Haryana, Ms Issar said the India-Tech Foundation, Mumbai (An Industry Association for International Techno-Economic Co-operation) had asked various state governments to submit their Case Studies in the field of ''Application of IT in State Administration (e-Governance)'' for TELECOMM India Excellence Awards 2007.

She said the Haryana e-Governance Case Study was short listed as one of the best five in this category. The other four states short-listed were Delhi, Maharastra, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh.

All these states were called to present their Case studies and to have interaction with the full Jury Panel, chaired by Mr Justice A M Ahmadi, the former Chief Justice of India on September 22 at Mumbai.

The Jury Panel had adjudged Haryana as the First prize Winner for TELECOMM India Excellence Award 2007, she added.

She said the state had also emerged as one of the largest exporters of software in the country having witnessed exponential growth in IT/ITES exports from about Rs 400 crore during 1998-1999 to over Rs 14,000 crore during 2006-07.
