The Computers Society of India-Nihilent e-Governance Awards, for initiatives during the period of April 1, 2007 to March 31, 2008, were announced at a function held during the 6th International Conference on e-Governance at the IIT-Delhi.
The honour recognised the convenience the website offers for payment of property tax, Vijender Gupta, the Chairman of MCD Standing Committee, said here today. The civic body had launched the website www.Mcdpropertytax.In in April 2007.
It facilitated self-assessment of property tax by property owners, on-line calculation and payment of tax through credit card. Gupta said the website has been accessed by taxpayers from as many as 97 countries and from 80 cities in India.
Till now 5,20,742 property owners have made the payment of tax by using this website and an amount of Rs 213.39 crore has been collected, he said.
