Transforming Government since 2001
Minister for Information Technology, Science and Technology, Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Aga Syed Ruhulla on Friday chaired a high level meeting held between Information Technology and J&K Bank officials.

The Minister asked Jammu and Kashmir Bank officials to complete 120 Common Service Centres (IT-KIOSKS) within the next one month and ensure that by the end of this year all remaining centres within the region of Kashmir and Jammu divisions, are completed.

The Common Service Centers (CCSs) scheme under the National e-Governance Programme (NeGP) was launched in February 2009 to take IT- revolution to 1109 villages in Jammu and Kashmir and is scheduled to be implemented within 2009-10. The J&K Bank as the sole Service Centre Agency (SCA) shall rollout and manage these CSCs in the state.

The CSC scheme envisions CSCs as the front end delivery points for Government, Private and Social Sector Services to rural citizens for delivery of Government to Consumer (G2C) and Business to Customer (B2C) Services including financial services in all the rural areas of the state. The centers will run by Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs).

The key Government Services for delivery through these Common Service Centers in J&K State will include land records, vehicle registration issue of birth/state subject certificates, utility/telephone bills, social benefit scheme, passport, application forms of Service Selection Board, PSC and BOPEE, Online Services of University of Kashmir, Tax Collection etc.

The CSCs would also offer multitude of other services ranging in the areas of education health, agriculture, commercial, financial services etc.

The Minister said that Common Service Centers Scheme is an enormous step towards making the Government accessible to citizens in ways that can not only save huge costs to the government but also make it more transparent and efficient in its day to day interaction with the common man. He asked the officials not to compromise on quality and ensure that work is completed on time.
