Seoni district is writing a new chapter in development and expansion of public facilities providing system. Now there are three alternatives for people for solving their problems - Sevamitra Samadhan Kendra, Samadhan Ek Divas and toll free telephone No. 1077. Especially the Sevamitra Samadhan Kendra has really become a centre of service to people. This has been possible by the far-sightedness of the district administration and its efforts to bring the e-governance at the ground level. As on today 70 Sevamitra Kendras are functioning in the district.

All these Sevamitra Kendras are connected with broadband service. Because of this, the district collector can see and read from his office whatever complaints are received at the Kendras and how much of them have been disposed of. According to the nature of the complaint or application the case is quickly disposed of. These Sevamitra Kendras are being run in rural areas and they are gaining popularity every day. The main reason for the popularity is that people's long pending problems are being solved within minutes!

This case pertains to Sevamitra Kendra of Ari. In a joint application Shri Premlal Ramteke of Usari village said that more than 15 persons including him were getting old age pension from Ari which is at a distance of 2 km from Usari. This was most convenient for them. But later, their pension cases were shifted to Sukla, situated at a distance of 5 km from Usari. Now all of them had to go to Sukla to get their pension by walking five kms. All of them had given applications to the concerned officers to re-start their pension from Ari but to no effect. When the Sevamitra Kendra started from Ari, the pensioners sent a joint application to the district collector through the Kendra as a last resort.

The district collector, who saw the application, immediately talked with the applicants and ordered the CEO, Janpad Panchayat, Barghat to transfer pension accounts of the complainants to the sub-post office, Ari, The CEO immediately solved their problem by transferring their pension accounts. This is how the Sevamitra Kendra helped the senior citizens whose old age pension cases were pending for long.

Shri Ramdhan Meshram, president of self help group and resident of Jummatola Ari has been supplying mid-day meals to students of Girls Middle School, Ari. In his application to the district collector through the Sevamitra Kendra, Shri Meshram said that he has been supplying mid-day meals to the students since last six months by spending money from his own pocket. The bill for Rs 30 thousand has been pending for payment in spite of appeal to the head master of the school. The district collector asked the CEO of Barghat Janpad Panchayat to investigate the case. On enquiry it was found that the complainant was right and his payment was made immediately.

A unique feature of the Kendras is that the field officers have to visit the Sevamitra Kendras every week and their attendance is recorded through biometric system. These field officers have to immediately solve the problems written in the applications received at the Sevamitra Kendras. This way the villagers are getting a chance to meet the field officers and their problems are solved quickly.

According to district collector Shri Manohar Dubey, due to long distances the rural people are not in a position to visit the district headquarters to get their problems solved. That is why he decided to provide facilities to the people in the villages.

The owners of these Kendras are free to conduct other commercial activities. Looking into the response to the Kendras, efforts are being made to open more such Kendras at different parts of the district.
