Around 40 vice chancellors of the state universities from across the country who will attend the All-India Vice Chancellors’ Conference will visit the facility of Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited (MKCL) here from Nov12-14 to see the digital university project created by the MKCL. The Corporation has implemented the digital university project in 10 universities in the state. “So far around 17 lakh students have been benefited from this project with the elimination of repetitive paper work in processes such as admissions, filling examination forms and accessing results,” said Vivek Sawant, managing director of MKCL.

“While universities in the country are exploring technology enabled models of governance, Maharashtra is leading in educational e-governance. As the emerging models of governance in higher education will be among the key topics to be discussed during the vice-chancellors' conference, some of the vice chancellors have requested the Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited to show the actual functioning of the digital varsities,” he said.

“The services under digital university have been especially useful to students from rural and remote areas. Once they enter the college in the first year, they get a personalised log in which last till they pass out. They get various services such as e-learning services, personalised exam schedules, time-tables, pre-filled examination forms, hall tickets and application forms for examinations and convocation online,” said Sawant.

He added the employment assistance portal titled employment assistance service for youth (EASY) has been providing students with information related to over 4,500 job opportunities across over 600 cities in their personalised log- ins.
